The agriculture program at Fauquier High School is building a farm for hands-on student experience.

$10,000 goal

The agriculture department at Fauquier High School is constructing a farm on the school campus to serve as a learning lab for agriculture students.  This facility has been named in the memory of Trip Bopp, a former student and outstanding young farmer.

We are currently in our third year of construction. Students have built the outside of the barn and are now in the process of adding a covered lean-to on the front and a storage room inside.  Future project include replacing the dilapidated fence surrounding the farm, building permanent chicken coops, and building a cover over our compost area. All of the funds go towards purchasing building materials.

The department needs to raise $10,000 more to pay for the next year of upgrades and projects on the farm.

The foundation of the Fauquier High School Agriculture Department is hands-on learning experience in all agriculture classes. The proposed facility improvements are needed to ensure that students in agriculture classes have real-world experience with production agriculture as an essential part of their agricultural education. Additionally, the site improvements will provide opportunities for 2nd and 3rd year students to have long term agriculture projects in addition to their classroom experience. Many of Fauquier High School students are suburban students and have limited access to agriculture experiences.
