Fauquier Sports Foundation, Inc.

The Fauquier Sports Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit organization that supports youth wrestling in Fauquier County. The Foundation's teams, which serve children from the ages of 5 through 18 in Fauquier and surrounding counties, include the Patriots, which compete in the Northern Virginia Wrestling Federation (NVWF), the Fauquier High School Falcons, which compete in the Virginia High School League (VHSL), and the Birds O'Prey Wrestling Club, an off-season wrestling program sanctioned by USA Wrestling, for students in grades 7 through 12.

More About Us

Our Fauquier Patriots team is the foundation of our program. Children ages 5 through 14 compete locally against other Northern Virginia Wrestling Federation clubs at tournaments held locally from December through February. The Federation is a recreational program that stresses safety and sportsmanship. Participants practice twice a week and compete in eight tournaments during the season, including a final tournament held in February. Athletes who participate in this NVWF program learn the basics of the sport in an encouraging, non-competitive environment.

The Birds O'Prey Wrestling Club was established to provide off-season conditioning and learning opportunities for wrestlers at the middle and high school level who want to improve their skills and prepare for high school competition and beyond. The Birds O'Prey Wrestling Club provides training in traditional Folkstyle wrestling as well as Collegiate and Freestyle wrestling. Wrestlers practice twice a week and compete in local, in-state, and out-of-state tournaments against some of the most competitive wrestlers in the nation. Participants include several state champions and placewinners as well as many wrestlers who have gone on to wrestle in college.

Both the Patriots and Birds O'Prey wrestling programs support our Fauquier Falcons High School team by providing participants with a venue for learning and competing that builds a foundation for future success. Our Fauquier Falcons have won District and Regional championships almost too numerous to mention (14x District champs, 8x Regional champs), and the Falcons have won the State Championship twice, in 2015 and 2016. Individual wrestlers have won multiple State titles, again too numerous to mention, with two individual wrestlers winning the State Championship in their weight class three years in a row. In addition, several of our Patriots and Birds O'Prey wrestlers have become Virginia Wrestling Association (VAWA) State Champions, and several have gone on to wrestle in college at George Mason University, Campbell University, Ferrum College, and West Virginia University.
