Culpeper Community Baseball, Inc. is a non-profit corporation that operates a Valley Baseball League franchise known as the Culpeper Cavaliers. Culpeper Community Baseball’s commitment to the community of Culpeper and the surrounding areas is to foster and promote youth baseball and softball, civic responsibility, charitable outreach, good sportsmanship, and responsible leadership. In addition to providing the community with an elite Culpeper Cavaliers collegiate summer baseball team that gives fans a fun filled, family-oriented, memorable experience, the team and the organization focuses on youth ball players.

The past two summers (2023 and 2024), our players, who come from colleges across the country, volunteer their time and conduct skills clinics/camps for the area’s youth ball players. In addition to our own skills clinics/camps, our players and coaches also volunteer their time and do clinics/camps other organizations in the area are conducting, including the PATH Recreation Center, Culpeper Human Services Kid Central’s Summer Day Camp, and the Culpeper County Sheriff’s Office Camp.  The youth ball players that attend these camps are little league and travel ball players from Culpeper, Fauquier, Rappahannock, Madison, and other surrounding areas.

In addition to skills clinics/camps, our home games at Culpeper County High School’s baseball field also provide an opportunity for youth development.  We get youth involved in many activities such as performing the national anthem, throwing out the ceremonial first pitch, being the batboy or batgirl, chasing foul balls, participating in entertainment between innings (mascot races, singing YMCA and Take Me Out to the Ballgame, etc.), and more. This coming season, we plan to have youth do one inning of the PA announcing at each of our 21 homes games.

In addition to working with youth ball players, we also look for ways to help the community at large by participating in service-based opportunities such as food drives.  In fact, in both June and July, some of our players volunteered their Saturday mornings to help at Empowering Culpeper.

All of these programs will be done again this coming summer (2025).

Below is some feedback:

From a little league parent: "The players that worked with my son were top notch.  They were encouraging, worked with the young players at their level, and were true professionals. Their ability to connect with the younger players was amazing." Went on to add, "We love getting to go to Cavaliers games as a family. Seeing the kids run after foul balls for a lollipop and watching them play catch with their friends, all while getting to watch some amazing baseball, has been some of the highlights of our summer. This team has truly had an impact on the Culpeper community and the youth baseball players in our area."

From Kid Central: "For the last two years, the Culpeper Cavaliers have held a popular baseball clinic during sports camp week at Kid Central’s Summer Day Camp. The Cavaliers visit the camp with its collegiate players and coaches-offering introductory baseball skills like hitting, catching and teamwork. The collegiate athletes provide encouragement and answer many questions about their athletic journey. Kid Central greatly values the Culpeper Cavaliers as a community partner. The positive interaction between collegiate athletes and our campers inspires and creates goals for our children to pursue."

From Empowering Culpeper: "Empowering Culpeper has been exceptionally fortunate to once again partner with the Culpeper Cavaliers baseball team in service to the Piedmont community. Over the last two years members of the team have brought the same energy, excitement, and dedication they show on the field to our community distributions, providing food and other necessities. In this time, they served, in total, over 678 households representing 2,500 seniors, adults, and children. They were invaluable in pushing carts for customers, unloading groceries into cars, and helping to erect and take down tents and other equipment. These young men also brought an even more important, intangible element they uniquely can provide. As members of the Culpeper Cavaliers baseball team, these young athletes are celebrities in the community. That they came to work alongside our volunteers in serving our customers added a spark of excitement for everyone. They also brought a sense of worth, particularly to our customers. As they talked and joked, pushed customers’ carts for them, and unloaded groceries into their cars, they reinforced the message that our customers have value; that our customers are worthy of their respectful attention. Anytime this happens, it is precious."
